CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

EVA: Has trouble believing in herself, bullied by friends, insecure, outcast, and... the story develops
REPRESENTED FLOWER: BABY'S BREATH
The flower symbolism associated with baby's breath is purity of heart, innocence, and the breath of the Holy Spirit. Baby's breath is white with dense, delicate clusters of flowers. They are native to Europe, but have been naturalized throughout the eastern United States. Baby's breath is often used as ornamental garden plants and as filler in bouquets.

NAME ORIGIN: EVA/EVE
Eva is a female given name, the Latinate counterpart of English Eve, derived from a Hebrew name meaning "life" or "living one." It can also mean full of Life or mother of life. It is the standard biblical form of Eve in many European languages.

AMARYL: The Mud Pixie Princess, Selfish, Drama queen, Self-centered, Egoistic

REPRESENTED FLOWER: AMARYLLIS
Legend has it that the amaryllis - the stunning red flower we've come to associate with the holidays - began as a shy, timid nymph. Amaryllis fell deeply in love with Alteo, a shepherd with Hercules' strength and Apollo's beauty, but her affections were unrequited. Hoping that she could win him over by bestowing upon him the thing he desired most - a flower so unique it had never existed in the world before - Amaryllis sought advice from the oracle of Delphi. Following his instructions, Amaryllis dressed in maiden's white and appeared at Alteo's door for 30 nights, each time piercing her heart with a golden arrow. When at last Alteo opened his door, there before him was a striking crimson flower, sprung from the blood of Amaryllis's heart. With this romantic - albeit tragic - tale as its beginning, it's not surprising that today the amaryllis has come to symbolize pride, determination and radiant beauty.

LARK: The Commander of the Pixies Patrol. Pixie Superior's right hand. Charming, believes in love, optimist, heroic character

 REPRESENTED FLOWER: PROTEA

Among the oldest families of flowers on earth, dating back 300 million years, Greek legend tells us that protea were named after Proteus, the son of Poseidon. A sea god who had the power to know all things past, present and future, Proteus was defiant and preferred to nap on the island of Pharos rather than prophesize. To deter those seeking his insights, he would change his shape at will, and it’s said that the protea flower was named after him because it, too, presents itself in an astounding variety of shapes, sizes, hues and textures to make up more than 1,400 varieties. With its mythological associations to change and transformation, it’s not surprising that in the language of flowers, protea symbolizes diversity and courage.

NAME ORIGIN: LARK

An Old World bird characterized by an unusually long, straight hind claw. It was symbolic merriment as the lark sang hymns at the gates of heaven; the lark was the bird that announced the coming of the day. Because of the bird's boundless energy, it is said the lark is also the symbol of hope, happiness, and of good fortune; creativity.

MERLE: Depressed soul. Very loyal to his master - the Poison King. Secretly has a crush for the King's daughter.
REPRESENTED FLOWER: GLADIOLUS
Named for the shape of their leaves, gladioli – from the Latin word “gladius,” meaning sword – have a history than spans from Africa to the Mediterranean. Symbolizing strength and moral integrity, gladioli also represent infatuation, with a bouquet conveying to a recipient that they pierce the giver’s heart with passion. Striking and colorful with towering stems, this August birth flower and 40th wedding anniversary flower evoke the drama of Roman gladiators.

NAME ORIGIN: MERLE (Also known as the blackbird)

The boy's name Merle \m(e)-, also used as girl's name Merle, is pronounced merl. It is of French origin, and the meaning of Merle is "blackbird".

POISON KING: Will go to any lengths to destroy Pixieland and have revenge, full of anger and hatred

REPRESENTED FLOWER: RHODODENDRON

The flower symbolism associated with the rhododendron is beware and caution. Rhododendron means "rose tree." Some spices are toxic to animals and may have a hallucinogenic and laxative effect on humans, thus the symbolism related to warning and danger. Today there are over 1,000 species of rhododendrons. Rhododendrons are the national flower of Nepal, the state flower of Sikkim in India, and the state flower of West Virginia and Washington in the United States. Derived from the Greek name meaning "rose." In the bible, this is the name of a servant in the house of Mary.

PIXIE SUPERIOR: Ruler of Pixieland with a dark secret, philosopher, wise, worrier

REPRESENTED FLOWER: SNAPDRAGON

Derived from the Greek words “anti,” meaning like, and “rhin,” meaning nose, antirrhinum, the snapdragon’s botanical name, is a fitting description of this snout-shaped flower.  Legend has it that concealing a snapdragon makes a person appear fascinating and cordial, and in the language of flowers, snapdragons are said to represent both deception (perhaps tied to the notion of concealment) and graciousness.

TODD: Eva's father. Warm, bubbly, nurturing, and honest.

REPRESENTED FLOWER: BUTTERCUP
The flower symbolism associated with buttercups is humility, neatness, childishness. Buttercups are part of a large genus of 400 species. Buttercups usually flower in April or May but may be found throughout the summer. In the Pacific Northwest (USA) the buttercup is called ‘Coyote’s eyes.’ The legend is that a coyote was tossing his eyes up in the air and catching them again when an eagle snatched them. Unable to see, coyote made eyes from the buttercup.

NAME ORIGIN: TODD
The boy's name Todd \t(o)- is pronounced tahd. It is of Middle English origin, and the meaning of Todd is "fox". The name possibly refers to a fox hunter. It remains a dialectal word for a fox in some parts of Britain.Tod is a Scottish nickname for a clever or wily person. Hockey player Todd Bertuzzi.

LUNA: Eva's mother. Gentle and loving. Sacrificed herself out of love to protect her baby from harm.
    REPRESENTED FLOWER: NIGHTBLOOMING CEREUS
